Solway Coast. Saturday 10th September

The Solway coast is calling today. We travel to Stranraer at a leisurely pace , in the full comfort of your coach. Stranraer welcomes us on the start of our experience. Stranraer is the gateway to the Rhinns of Galloway and the first call on the way round the coast. With a stop here fully enjoyed we take the ever so short journey to Portpatrick.
 
Portpatrick is a pretty town of pastel-coloured houses, set around a small bay with cliffs forming the backdrop. You will have some breath taking views here.

Kirkcudbright is a harbour town on the Solway coast that has always been popular with artists. Located 10 miles from Castle Douglas and 6 miles from the A75.
 
Kirkcudbright (pronounced kir-coo-bree) sits on the banks of the River Dee and is the only town on the Solway coast with a working harbour. It’s an attractive town with a colourful blend of medieval, Georgian and Victorian buildings. Kirkcudbright became a magnet for Scottish artists in the late 19th century, and is now know as The Artists' Town beacuse of this association.
 
Other town attractions include the Tolbooth Art Centre and Harbour Cottage Gallery. There is a supermarket, alongside some great places to eat out around town. There are many independent shops to browse as well as a monthly farmers' market which showcases the area's best local produce in the Town Hall.
